CBT is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  Cognitive because we deal with the thoughts that get us into an endless negativity loop that beats us up.  In AA the old thoughts are called “stinkin’ thinkin’.”

Homework is a key element in the use of CBT.  The client keeps logs and brings them to session for discussion.  The client may be required to do certain things physically, like leave the house, to to the grocery store, etc.

CBT retrains the thoughts through doing homework.
